Motivation & Inspirational Album From D'Jungle People

Hitting the right note with young executives

USING music in training programmes is nothing new, but a group of young trainers have decided to write, sing and produce the album themselves.

D’Jungle People, a corporate training company that specialises in experiential learning, recently released an album of 10 motivational and inspirational songs titled Chasing A Dream.

“The album shows that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it and we are using ourselves as an example of that,” said D’Jungle People managing director Paul Kam.

The concept of the album is founded not upon the staff’s strengths as singers but their persistence and determination to pursue and realise a dream.

Initially, the company had thought of getting professionals to cut the album, “but we wanted to give the message that dreams are there for us to chase,” said Kam.

So they decided to do everything themselves. As it turned out, it took only two months for the 12 trainers and facilitators of D'Jungle People to cut the album.

“Music is something everybody likes, it’s just a matter of what type,” Kam said.

“Most trainers write books and articles expressing their ideas. We believe in using all forms of _expression, including music, to teach and send a message to people about the values we hold,” he added.

The lyrics of the songs are about friendship, trust, team spirit, togetherness and a never-say-die attitude.

Brothers Paul and John Kam established D'Jungle People in 2000, incorporating resources from nature and the environment into their training and development programmes.

“We try to set standards every year and bring experiential learning to the next level,” said Kam.

All the company’s concept programmes, created by the trainers themselves, are customised and designed to achieve specific corporate objectives.

One key programme called “Keepers of the Flame” is targeted at a company’s new staff or young executives.

The programme, designed with a specific storyline, aims to encourage participants to identify their company’s values while having fun at the same time.

To date, Kam said the company has trained over 8,000 executives, managers and directors.

Most of their clients, he said, are multinationals such as Standard Chartered UK, Cadbury, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Maxis and Shell IT.

Another major client is Multimedia Development Corporation in which D’Jungle People runs one of its training modules for young executives.
